The orchestra is led by long-standing musical director Lawrence Foster and various visiting conductors, and features numerous renowned soloists.
As well as its domestic programme, the orchestra has also toured most of Europe and parts of Africa. For more than 30 years it has featured many of the most respected soloists and conductors, but is particularly well known for its recordings under the direction of Michel Corboz. Lawrence Foster took over in 2002/2003.
